So I went today to see Dr. Campbell, my family doc, and he did comfirm the diagnosis of Type II Diabetes. But he seems to think that it is completely manageable with diet and exercise, plus the Glucophage XR that Dr. Harper started me on last week.
When we had our initial consultation on the 9th this month, I had began making some changes. So in addition to having already lowered my intake of sugar and cutting out almost all breads (sad I know), I had started working out with a friend from work when we get off in the mornings. (I had lost 2lbs in 2 wks as of Friday at Dr Harper's office.) Dr. Campbell seemed to think that this was a start in the right direction.
The only bad thing is, I have to start checking my blood sugar twice a day, but I can handle that.
I called and talked to Lynn at Dr.Harper's office and she was shocked, really, to find out that all this had happened so fast after just talking to me friday and giving me the instructions to follow up. My response..."I was just doing what you told me to and I am one determined woman to make this all happen and come together." I am still waiting to hear back from her and see what Dr. Harper wants to do next and when.
This is not just a diet anymore, it is a choice. A "have-to" choice. I have to get healthy and this under control now if I want to be here and be a healthy mommy for those babies and for my husband and family.
Again, thanks for the positive thoughts and prayers coming our way and I will do my best to keep you updated. God Bless!!

Never knew how SWEET I was!!
So Friday (6/24) I went for a repeat visit with Dr. Harper's staff. Our round of Ovidrel with planned intercourse was not effective. I had to have more baseline labs and another baseline ultrasound done since Mother Nature found me once again.
Everything looked good on the ultrasound, so no problems there.
However, I didn't get good news on the lab work from the 13th.
I am diabetic.
I have a HgbA1C of 8.0 and an Insulin level of 39. For those of you who know anything about that then you know that it is high. Fot those of you who don't, that is the blood test that is done to check for diabetes. It should be 6.0 or lower and my insulin level should be less than 15.
More bad news is that Dr. Harper doesn't want to pursue any type of fertility treatment until my HgbA1C is <7.5, preferrably <6.5. He wants me to follow up with Dr Campbell at Lakeside Clinic who is my primary care doctor to get this under control. He believes this is necessary before getting pregnant because it can be detrimental to both me and a baby.
Treatment as of now is to take the Glucophage that Dr Harper prescribed and wait for my appointment with Dr. Campbell on Tuesday June 28th.
Not exactly the news and pattern of events I was hoping for at this time. Mostly disappointed and mad and frustrated with myself. But this is not just do-able, it is a necessity. Not just for me so I can be healthy and productive for myself, but for my future babies and my husband and family. I want to be here and be well.
I just have to keep remembering that God will make this trial a blessing!! If you have time, send a prayer our way!!
Thank you and God bless!!

Birthday from the horror film with a happy ending...
Crazy title, yes I know, but that is exactly what it was!!
I woke up to a nightmare 15 min before the alarm clock. Rabid gopher rats had be trapped on my kitchen table weilding a broom screaming for my life, and all of 15 min before the alarm clock was supposed to wake me up.
But all is fair in getting up early to make it to the hospital for a dear friends predicted all day delivery. And who better to take care of her on this day of delivery, but your's truely. However, Brenton had all different kinds of plans for us bright and early that morning.
On a side note, for those of you who are healthcare workers, we understand what it is to take care of our friends and family. Well, in labor and delivery it is no different. Some of those friends and family feel all the more comfortable having a familiar face there with them. So Steph and I had discussed this and she wanted me to labor and deliver her as much as I wanted to be there for her on this awesome day. Because, no matter what her firstborn son was destined to have the same birthday as me and his grandmother, Steph's mom. I was super excited to say the least.
Things went all wrong, as they are sometimes enevitable to do. Delivering Steph turned into being her complete support system during a horrifying and scary situation that she was alone in. It was a crazy fiasco that could have turned out a lot worse than it did. So, after getting Brenton here via emergency c-section that morning at 0839, my day surely had to get better right??.....WRONG!!
Brenton didn't tolerate delivery very well and wasn't doing so hot on this side of the womb. We were going to have to ship him out to the bigger hosp.
Supposed to get better now.....that's what you think.
Mother Nature decides to present me with my birthday gift as well, all in the midst of the L&D unit doing another emergency c-section, and my co-workers wishing I would get my paperwork done and go home already. Apparently I was carrying the "black cloud" for the day.
So after boating, I mean driving home in the torrential down pour, I just want a shower and to sit down.
Kevin and I get home about the same time, him right after me, and he wants to know where I would like to go out to eat for my birthday supper.
Really??...Go out??...In this weather and being this tired??....OK, really what have I got better to do.
Now...Finally...Getting better...
Top O' The River is chosen and during our surprisingly fabulous dinner, we got to sit lake-side and watch the beautiful sunset that had made its way through the storm.
That made it all seem to be better.
So what did I get for my birthday??
1. A miricale baby 2. To be someone's rock 3. Laughter and Confidence 4. Good food made even better by great conversation. AND 5. A Sunset
Thank you Lord for smiling on me for my birthday and blessing me with another one.

3-2-1 FLY!!
It is pretty bad when you look at your blog and realize that it has been almost 7 months since you have made an entry. That is way behind.
Thankful November was never finished. Just a little bit of my personality shining through. One who begins great tasks with the intention of finishing, but never really getting it all done. Not to say that I was tremendously greatful the rest of November, I was just too busy to blog about it.
Fast Forward to June - present day.
As some of you readers know, we have had our struggle getting pregnant. Let me catch you up on that situation since I would like to turn this blog into a journal page for me and my future children of how I can remember their story and they will know how hard we worked to get them here. So this is a little of how that journey began.
Back in March, I re-visited Dr Billue, and made our wishes known that we were ready to take the baby-making business to the next level. After over 2 years of attempting with no success, it was time. At that time, Dr. Billue and Betsy referred, very highly reccomended, us out to a reproductive endocrinologist, Dr Andrew Harper. My appointment finally rolled around June 9th. (4 days ago). I know now why he comes so highly reccommended. We absolutely loved him. Very kind and compassionate with a sincere and genuine desire to "help" us attain pregnancy. During our consultation, we discussed our options...plan of care being, see what happens with this current cycle, then if unsuccessful, move on to IUI (intrauterine insemination.) Labs and U/S to be done on Monday (13th).
So today, well actually yesterday since I am up blogging after midnight, I went if for labs and U/S. After no less than 15 (yes, I counted) tubes of blood and almost passing out, I met Christine, who is my primary care nurse, and preformed the trans-vaginal U/S. All looked normal with a slight retro-verted uterus (a normal variant). My ovary on the left looked small and inactive this month and the R ovary looked as if it had just ovulated because it had a good sized fluid-filled sac (not a cyst - I asked) on the interior side. Christine will have rounds with Dr. Harper after lunch and will then call me in the afternoon for update. So I am expecting to hear back from her later, with probable, standard news about lab results and my next appointment.
Afterward I went home to work on homework and study for a test in all hopes of taking my mind off of all this stuff, because like it or not, I have a ton of other stuff going on. In the middle of a Mark Twain power point, I receive a phone call from Christine as expected. "Good news," she says, "that large thing that was coming off your ovary is not a fluid-filled sac, that was a follicle we saw. According to your lab work, you are ovulating. TODAY!"
Me "That's crazy!!"
Christine "I know but we are going with it. I am calling you in some medicine and we need to get going today."
Me "Wow...ok...When and where?"
So after all that and a self-injection, we are going with it and waiting and seeing.
It actually feels like we are making progress. Even though it was just a consultation I felt really good about it and had a good feeling all weekend. I was totally unsuspecting and had the thoughts that this could take a while and didn't have high expectations at all. Over the weekend a friend asked if I was ok with all that was going on and I compared it to riding that 3-2-1 FLY ride at the beach. It seems like forever to get to the top. We are being pulled up and up and up, and we get to the top finally and we are waiting on that person to pull the release to give us the ride of our lives. Our problem is we don't know if we are still going up or about to pull the release. But its ok, because I finally let go and I am finally waiting and seeing myself.
